I recomend that you watch this movie DVD Shut Up an Sing. I like the Dixie Chicks a little but I did not know about what happened to them just before the current Gulf War began.
To all you deluded patriots who were burning the CD's of these women... I wonder what you have to say about your President now?

Yes, the hysteria surrounding the Dixie Chicks was un-warrented but tell me, if some of your biggest singers done the same thing they did just before the UAE went into a war with someone, what will the reaction be from your government?
I dont think it would be anything as nice as what the Dixie's went through.

Dixie Chicks is not really my thang, but I remember the public hysteria over the girls prior to the Gulf War occuring.
I think they were right in their opinion, but wrong in the way they expressed it. Still I agree with anon: Given the nature of Arabic governments, including the UAE... I cannot imagine Ferqat Dubai or Hussain Al Jasmee speaking out against our Government in the way the Dixie Chicks did then... and not risk some kind of punishment that equals to more than a loss in CD and ticket sales!
I agree with the 1st anon. If an Emirati singer acted like the Dixie Chicks and said bad things about the Maktooms or the Nahyans, I think most Emiraties and even non Local arabs would be out on the street burning their CD's.
I am sorry. Are all you people drinking from some brain cell killing water? Can you really compare Shk Zayed to George Bush?
