The fall of the Arab man.

Please tell me, how many of you fall for these scams when some man or woman from some third world backwater emails you with his or her sad story. It is usally Mr Adubigobagobigibungo from Nigera or some other West African nightmare, who happens to be the son of some important diplomat, civil servant or high up official, or royal family member etc and he needs to transfer his money to an offshore account- namely yours. I used to get one everyweek a few years back. The first time I was really concerned and I told this Nigerian guy at my University about it. He told me 'Dont worry and ignore it. If it comes from Nigeria its probably a scam, most of us currupt' .

Now 6 years later a friend forwards me this email this evening from a man called Sami Ayob:

My name is Mr. Sami Ayob I have just arrived in United Kingdom three days ago from Beirut Lebanon; I want to know what it takes to Invest in your country as I leant that its one of the most peaceful country.

In your reply please indicate to me your capacity to receive the sum of amount 6. Million United state dollar on my behalf as soon as I hear from you I will forward my details and personal information to you.

Reply to my alternative email at sami*****2@******.com">

Thanks for your kind attention hope to hear from you soon.

Regards
Mr. Sami Ayob

The first thing I thought when I read this 'was what the f*ck?' Us Arabs invented hussling people out of money. Go to Egypt and try not to escape the country without paying through your nose for every single little favor (like stamping your passport before you can leave the damn airport). Pass through Marracech with a zero budget and still manage to leave the country with 10 overpriced rugs, 100 grams of hashish and 1 new wife. Go to Jordan, Yemen, Libya etc and you will learn that Arabs know how to husstle and sell things to people they dont need... at an over price. So whats the fuck with this letter from Mr Ayob?

No long complicated plan about why he should transfer money in the 1st place. No tales about bank accounts and trapped funds in a foreign country and going to secret locations for secret dealings. Mr Ayob doesnt waste time with any of that. He just comes straight to the point. He is like 'Your country is a great safe country for investment, so give me your bank account details.'

I am disgusted. There was a time when Arabs were great people, now we have just become lame and uncreative and lazy. Sometimes I miss Gamal Nasser too much.

Update: Perhaps there is some hope after all with this scam at the DIFC

Very un-PC. You should tone this post down a little, because you sound like such a typical Emirati.

I think you should of added the word 'irony' or 'sarcasm' to 'Labels', because there is so much in this article many people can laybel as offensive. ;-)
